The autumn is in the air. I can smell it. (Shut up, Ski Guy.) Not in the sun shine, it’s still lurking in the shadows. But it’s there. I’m glad I’m wearing a knit dress today.
I like autumn. It’s a wonderfully energetic season. Everyone’s always all excited about spring. I’ve always thought of spring as a season where the nature seems to hog all the energy it can find to itself, to grow, to wake up. In the fall*, it’s giving it all out before shutting down for winter. It’s like an explosive outburst of energy, often taking the form of stormy weather, rain and wind.
In the winter it’s just dark and gloomy. Until you get snow, at which point it’s at the same time dark and light. But as soon as you get snow, everything stills. Everything quiets down and goes into hiding. It’s mystical, and I love it. In the fall, however, it’s all out for nature. “Look what I can do!” And I love it.
I smell autumn.
* just so you know, I use both ‘autumn’ and ‘fall’ interchangeably for the season. It usually depends on the rhythm of the sentence, and stuff like that, but there’s really no logic.
